THRACE. Bizya. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Assarion (Bronze, 23 mm, 6.94 g, 6 h), time of Hadrian, 117-138. ΔΙΟΝΥСω ΚΤΙСΤΗ Dionysos seated right, holding bunch of grapes in his right hand and a grape (?) in his left; behind him, vine. Rev. ΒΙΖΥΗΝΩΝ City-goddess standing left, holding uncertain object in her right hand; at her feet to left, river-god reclining right. RPC III 736. Very rare and with unusually clear details. Near black patina. Minor smoothing, otherwise, good very fine.
